My Hands.....

Mix and match from the videos I filmed, cut and psate, fade in fade out, less brightless and more contrast, Opacity 50%, sometime 30%, reverse it, change color balance, add a spot light........ In fact, it is quite fun to play around with all of these effects in my PC.

I did not aim at anything for this trial, but it seems something comes out which is out of my expectatioin.

I choose a music for it. The story goes like this, one day, I play my ipod in shuffle mode, and I suddently hear a beautiful piano intro. So, I use it.

Now, it is a bit walking away from my original idea, but why not let it flow. It may bring something surprise me again.

Will see it on Thursday.

iMovie

We practiced using iMovie last Thursday, it is a very easy and user friendly tool for editing video.
Here is a little trial from the class.

It's funny that the sound at the end, and I do think that the color tone at the end looks like some kind of memorial's video...... :P

Drawings.....

We had a fun class this Thursday, we did some sketchs.....

Drawing no. 1
We use a Charcoal to rub on a paper under any surface in the studio.

Drawing no.2
By looking at other's sketchs, we choose one of our favorite line, and draw it on our own. (It supposed to fill up the whole paper, however, I guess I need 2 more years to finish it. So, I leave it this way)

Drawing no.3
Think of any line and draw it with eye closed.

Drawing no. 4
Think of one movement that involve our whole body and be able to draw a repeating stroke on a paper.

Drawing no.5
Think of a phrase of five movements. Then draw it on the paper!
We also need to re-interprete other's work to make up a phrase. Hahaha

Ver 1.0

Colors and emotion seems to have a natural bonding, whether color reflexes emotion or emotion affected by the color you see.

The project aim at working on using different colors to create different visual effects which could be something like screen saver, or I will try to paint some images on different types of materials, and photograph them.

After filming these elements, I would like it to be projected on a performer’s hand.

Further on, I want this whole thing to be filmed again in one shot. So, I would need a very dark space to do it, in order not to lose (not to lose too much of) the quality of the very first video.

This last video will be projected in the final. Performer should be dancing with it.

By doing all these, I want to explore the layers of colors and emotion. As simple as tears and laughter can happen together or red can represents both love and angry.

Wind is blowing.

Have been thinking about the final project......

"Make work from what you know" <- I like this one.

Then, what do I know??
...
..
.

I have been thinking for really long time that, life is a piece of blank paper, people leaving their colours on us. Sometime people leave us scars. Vice versa, we paint our colour to others as well. We crack sometime, so that we leave some of our pieces in some place. At the end, we are not so pure, but we are experienced.
I guess this concept is somehow from my old pal Elaine Kwok.
um.......
Could this is be the starting point?

Other thing that I want to try for a while, is to start a work without any statment at the beginning. And let the process bring me to a place that I would never expect, and let it be something.
I guess I am somehow affected by my old colleague Xing Liang and Sangba, but I think this is still very worth to try, it will be a big break through for me.
Then how to start? Yes, start with thing that I am familiar with, which has to be moving my body, move it in my favourite way, and make it more complex, more difficult, more extreme......

Two notes for tonight!
